Are You Suffering from Neck Pain?

The more you know about neck pain causes the better off you will be. Believe it or not, most people suffer from neck pain causes at some point in their life. Yours may be more serious than others, or maybe it is just a minor tweak. But no matter what, if you know what this is all about and how to address the problem you will be better off. This is one of those potential health concerns that you want to know a lot about even if you are not suffering.

So what neck pain causes are most common? It is hard to say what cause is the most common of them all, but many believe that it is muscle strains. If you pull a muscle in your neck or back it can lead to a lot of pain in the area. In fact, the pain can be so bad that it may make you wonder if you didn't hurt yourself in another way.

Of course, there are more serious issues that can come up over time. For instance, a herniated disk can lead to a lot of pain and eventually cause problems in other areas as well. This is something that needs treated by an experienced doctor, and may even call for surgery depending on how bad your situation is.

Finally, another one of the most common neck pain causes is injury. This can include anything from a car accident to falling down. Landing on your neck the wrong way or being suddenly hit without notice can lead to injury to the neck and back.

If you are suffering from neck pain it is important to receive a proper diagnosis. Even if you think you know what the problem is you should see your doctor just to make sure. Neck pain is not something that you want to take lightly as minor problems can linger and get worse over time.

Now that you know more about neck pain causes you are in better position to handle this problem should you begin to suffer.

You have a pinched or tight muscle in your neck to cause this, it is pulling the vertebrae together making it hard to move your head and a pinched muscle usually doesn't like to be messed with as well. Here is how you can release it to get rid of the pain: Neck Invert your hands and put them next to your head placing your thumbs in under your ears and your fingers behind your head. Squeeze together and hold until the muscles release. Then slowly lower your head until your neck is fully extended, release the pressure but hold your head there for another 30 seconds.

Ugh, so sorry you are dealing with this. I have experienced this many times, and it can be extremely painful! Once I was in such pain, I looked up acupressure techniques online, specifically for wry neck (also known as stiff neck). I tried this exercise below, and it helped relieve some of the tension and stiffness (you can find pictures to help you and additional exercises on the link below: Find the muscle located on the tops of your shoulders half way between your spine and the outside tip of the shoulders. Use your index and middle fingers to locate then press the right shoulder point 12 times. Apply enough pressure so you feel a comfortablepain. As with point 1, press for 3 seconds then release for 1 second. Repeat on the left shoulder. Press this point 2-3 times a day when you have a stiff neck or neck pain.

Assuming you have no history of injury with this neck pain, it sounds like you have acute torticollis. The name translates to "recent-onset twisted neck. " This occurs when the muscles of the neck spasm in response to a normally innocuous stimulus. Many patients wake up with neck pain and stiffness like this after sleeping near a fan or with the window open...the breeze seems to trigger the muscles to spasm. In addition, the increased force being generated by the muscles of the neck alter the motion of the joints between vertebrae of the neck. A chiropractor will be able to restore the motion in the joints of your neck and relieve the tension in the muscles of the area, which will relieve the pain you are experiencing.

My Mom has this problem, so I know a little about it. Before you felt that pain, do you remember doing something that could hurt your neck in any way? Like, turning too fast. Um, rolling down a flight of stairs...okay, probably not that extremely. But re-think your movements. Basically. you might have pulled a sever muslce, slept wrong. But by the vast information, it seems like you've hurted both your neck and shoulder. Go to the doctor. It's best. :) Hope you feel better soon.
