Are You Suffering from Neck Pain?

The more you know about neck pain causes the better off you will be. Believe it or not, most people suffer from neck pain causes at some point in their life. Yours may be more serious than others, or maybe it is just a minor tweak. But no matter what, if you know what this is all about and how to address the problem you will be better off. This is one of those potential health concerns that you want to know a lot about even if you are not suffering.

So what neck pain causes are most common? It is hard to say what cause is the most common of them all, but many believe that it is muscle strains. If you pull a muscle in your neck or back it can lead to a lot of pain in the area. In fact, the pain can be so bad that it may make you wonder if you didn't hurt yourself in another way.

Of course, there are more serious issues that can come up over time. For instance, a herniated disk can lead to a lot of pain and eventually cause problems in other areas as well. This is something that needs treated by an experienced doctor, and may even call for surgery depending on how bad your situation is.

Finally, another one of the most common neck pain causes is injury. This can include anything from a car accident to falling down. Landing on your neck the wrong way or being suddenly hit without notice can lead to injury to the neck and back.

If you are suffering from neck pain it is important to receive a proper diagnosis. Even if you think you know what the problem is you should see your doctor just to make sure. Neck pain is not something that you want to take lightly as minor problems can linger and get worse over time.

Now that you know more about neck pain causes you are in better position to handle this problem should you begin to suffer.

How to relieve sharp electric neck pain extending to behind right ear and temple?

Question: How to relieve sharp electric neck pain extending to behind right ear and temple?

(Posted by: ashujaan786 on 2010-01-22 08:31:57)

Hello, I hope that someone can help me with a major pain in my neck that has been persistent for more than a fortnight. I woke up one morning with a pain near the nape up my neck towards the right side. After a couple of days of nonstop pain, the pain extended to behind my right ear and further up till my right temple and the back of my head. And since then, the pain has been excruciating. The pain stems from my neck near my hairline and its sharp and electric and the pain extends to my right ear and temple, which is throbbing. I don't have insurance, so I have not been to the doctor. But I'm at my wits end. I don't know what to do to relieve this constant pain. I ate some otc painkillers and applied warm compresses but to no avail. Please help. I can't go to the doctor, so any other help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Put cold compresses not hot ,on your neck. Lie on your side to sleep and keep your neck supported.Apply voltarin cream to your neck as well .

Sounds like a pinched nerve in the back of your neck. You really need to see a chiropractor because pain killers won't do a lot. Try an over the counter muscle relaxant. (I use Calms Forte - a homeopathic tablet tinyurl.com/ yj74ru6 ) Then try doing some very gentle exercises. Sit in a chair comfortably and let your head hang forward, then to one side, then the other side, do this gently and slowly and bring your head back to the center in between each. Try an ice pack where the pain seems to begin at the nape. Just for 15 minutes or so. If that doesn't help try a warm (not hot) pack. Ice usually helps more. Try moving your shoulder gently and see if that changes the pain at all. If it is a pinched nerve (which isn't uncommon to get from sleeping in a bad position) you will probably need to get professional help but the above things may lessen the pain somewhat.

I also have issues with neck pain. I posted my question on wish123 and got an answer from an expert who solved my problems. Highly recommend the website.
