Are You Suffering from Neck Pain?

The more you know about neck pain causes the better off you will be. Believe it or not, most people suffer from neck pain causes at some point in their life. Yours may be more serious than others, or maybe it is just a minor tweak. But no matter what, if you know what this is all about and how to address the problem you will be better off. This is one of those potential health concerns that you want to know a lot about even if you are not suffering.

So what neck pain causes are most common? It is hard to say what cause is the most common of them all, but many believe that it is muscle strains. If you pull a muscle in your neck or back it can lead to a lot of pain in the area. In fact, the pain can be so bad that it may make you wonder if you didn't hurt yourself in another way.

Of course, there are more serious issues that can come up over time. For instance, a herniated disk can lead to a lot of pain and eventually cause problems in other areas as well. This is something that needs treated by an experienced doctor, and may even call for surgery depending on how bad your situation is.

Finally, another one of the most common neck pain causes is injury. This can include anything from a car accident to falling down. Landing on your neck the wrong way or being suddenly hit without notice can lead to injury to the neck and back.

If you are suffering from neck pain it is important to receive a proper diagnosis. Even if you think you know what the problem is you should see your doctor just to make sure. Neck pain is not something that you want to take lightly as minor problems can linger and get worse over time.

Now that you know more about neck pain causes you are in better position to handle this problem should you begin to suffer.

What to do about my neck injury?

Question: What to do about my neck injury?

(Posted by: Sean VP on 2010-01-26 22:42:47)

I've had pain in the lower right part of my neck for the past 8 months or so, first started noticing it when i got my car and it would occasionally ache when i drove, and since then it has progressively gotten worse, to the point where now it aches 24/ 7. When it gets real bad it sorta feels like the muscle or something is stretching. aspirin/ ibuprofen temporarily relieves some of the pain, but it is still noticeable, the majority of the time it is just a dull ache though. i recently went to only of the few doctors around here that supports medicaid insurance(lots of new foreign doctors, overworked, etc.), told her my problem, and all she(fresh out of med school i think) did was give me a sheet of exercises to do. It was was a bunch of illustrations. Laughable. I'm no medical expert but i don't think this type of injury(would this be considered an "injury " or is there a better word? just wondering), especially one that is getting worse over time, will be remedied by cookie- cutter exercises. What should i do? I can't afford proper insurance, so that's really the only doctors office i can go to. If i go back, i might get a different doctor, but that's not guaranteed, and even if i did i would likely get the same response. My dad recommends me going to the ER. Aside from the fact that i would hate to be in a waiting room for 12 hours+, i don't think this is a good idea. basically what im asking is if this neck problem could be solved by simply doing the exercises, or if i need to get it actually checked out. thanks a bunch, just talked to my dad and he said he'll set up an appointment with his chiropractor

Hi Sean. If you had chronic tooth pain you would probably see an expert - your family Dentist. And, you would expect your Dentist to diagnose and treat the CAUSE of the pain and not just give you jaw exercises or pain pills. It might be wise to have a thorough evaluation by your family Chiropractor - an expert in diagnosing and treating neck/ spine pain. Clearly, something is wrong in your neck. You deserve a proper examination and diagnosis. Only then can effective treatment be prescribed. Best wishes and good luck.
